Sturgeon and Stripers Come Alive

This last week the stripers went wild one day and gone the next day and then they are back again.  Today, both bait fishermen and trollers are picking up stripers to 10 lbs fishing the west bank.  Never know what will happen tomorrow for striped bass.

This was a pretty good weekend for sturgeon fishing in the Cache Slough area above Rio Vista.  Saturday we caught between and 8 to 9 ft. sturgeon using grass shrimp.  Sunday, we landed two sturgeon in the same area, again grass shrimp was the best bait.  There were a lot of sturgeon jumping in the area and we saw more sturgeon than we’ve seen since last year.  The water temperature is beginning to rise.  It is now up to 56 degrees and this should trigger some very consistent fishing.

We are starting to plan shorter trips determined on the time of tide for striped bass or sturgeon.  We need a minimum of three people to go.  The cost will be:  a 4 Hour trip $100 per person ; 6 Hour trip $120 or our regular 8 Hour trip for $150 per person all with a minimum of 3 people.  Call us for the times of the tides for the trip you want to book.  Hope to hear from you soon.  Get in on some of this fun fishing for stripers and sturgeon.
