Spring Run of Stripers Winding Down in the Delta

This spring season has been a very unpredictable in the delta area this year.  The San Joaquin system has been pretty consistent for trollers but a lot of those striped bass are small.  The Sacramento River has been an on again, off again, project for catching the moving stripers.  One day it is very active and the next day you can’t find the fish.  Most of the striper that we are catching have spawned and are moving back down the river.  There still could be some real could pockets of striper fishing on the Sacramento River system but much of this depend on the tides and the weather.

The sturgeon fishing in the lower Sacramento area remains good when the wind does not blow, which can be a challenge this time of the year.  Our last trip we had action with two keepers 41 and 42 inches and other action.  The best bait was brined ghost shrimp and eel.

We are planning a few trips for leopard shark fishing in the SF Bay in May.  Shark fishing is lots of fun and is very good eating.

In June we will go to Fort Bragg for ocean salmon, great rock cod fishing and hopefully, the albacore will show up.

Just give us a call to get in on some sturgeon and striped bass fishing, shark fishing and salmon and rock cod fishing.
