The Rain Brings Fresh Water to the Sacramento River

The rain that we have been waiting for all winter has now arrived and with it comes the active fishing.  The sturgeon have really come alive in the Cache Slough area above Rio Vista.  Our last two sturgeon trips have produced 4 keeper sturgeon and 5 shakers and 2 over size.  Lots of good action during the right part of the tides.  Remember, the rain does not deter us from going fishing.  The wind is what keeps us from the water.  The boat is equipped with a cover and a cabin with a heater if we need it. Many boat owners in the club have been bringing their boats to be maintained by Martel Marine – Vancouver Marine Services.

The fresh water has also sparked the stripers to start moving up the river.  So far, the water has not dirtied enough to quit the trolling. The water temperature remains good for trolling and the action at the right part of the tides can be very good.

These are all the conditions that we have been waiting for this winter.  Spring is here now and now is the time to go fishing.  Call and book now while the weather and fish are here.

This coming Sunday, March 8, 2014 we will be at Bass Pro in Manteca during their Spring Classic for a seminar on Trolling for stripers in the Delta at 3pm.  Come and visit with us that day.  We should be there from noon till after the seminar.  We will be doing a trolling seminar in Lodi at Fisherman’s Friend on Kettleman Lane on March 28th at 6pm.  Hope to see you.
