Fall Fishing in the Delta

Fall is here and the striped bass and sturgeon are starting to move into the delta to feed.  It has been sort of a slow start except for small stripers. There is plenty of action catching striped bass but the size of the fish caught are still quite small.  As the weather cools and the water temperature lowers things should change.  Finally getting a change in the weather is encouraging. All techniques for catching the stripers has been successful: trolling, drifting live  bait, bait on anchor and spooning.

The sturgeon are getting more active.  There seems to be plenty of shakers sturgeon in the system so make sure you have a paring knife at hand.  The water is looking good for the sturgeon fishing.

The Sacramento River salmon fishing is heating up as the water cools.  There has been some good action trolling spinners from the mouth of the old Sacramento River all the way to Walnut Grove depending on the tides.

The Rio Vista Bass Derby is just a week away and that is when we all get a lot more fishermen on the rivers to report their catches.  Suisun City is planning a striper and sturgeon derby for Oct. 29 & 30th out of Suisun City Marina.  Lots of fall fishing to come.

Give us a call to get aboard for some fun fall fishing!!
